Randstad are seeking applications from available and suitable candidates for the role of Principal Project Engineer within a leading mining and resources organisation on a 6-12 month contract.
Reporting to the Lead Area Engineer, The Principal Project Engineer manages all engineering design related works conducted by external consultants, for the materials handling projects from feasibility to detailed design. The Project Engineer is effectively the project’s engineering lead/manager.
Objectives of the role:
- Achieving engineering schedule, budget and quality requirements
- Optimise the design to enable safe and efficient construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance
- Ensure design meets statutory and company engineering standards
- Follow engineering & project process and procedures
- Ensure accuracy of engineering schedules and estimates
Core accountabilities:
- Lead and develop engineering management strategy and plan for the project
- Development of project user requirements, gathering input from site operations and other stakeholders
- Development of basis of design and engineering services scope of work
- Support tender evaluation and award
- Manages the performance of engineering completed by external engineering consultants
- Ensures project engineering schedule and budget is met
- Monitors engineering progress, including the schedule critical path, and mitigates potential schedule impact
- Ensure adherence to all statutory, Australian and company engineering standards
- Technical queries & RFI management
- Coordinating internal design reviews
- Leads the sustainability in design review process e.g. health safety environment community constructability operability and maintainability
- Endorsement of changes/trends, variations and payment claims
- Contributes to project risk reviews
- Collaborates with delivery and commissioning teams
- Support operational readiness by providing engineering related data
About you:
- Positive attitude and ability to influence change
- Qualified mechanical engineer (mining bulk materials handling experience preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and influential skills - including effective communicator, team player
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office suite experience – Word, Excel & Outlook.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate significant experience in a similar role and preference will be given to those with heavy mining project experience. Take this opportunity to secure a rare role offered on a Monday to Friday Perth based roster. Some site travel is required.
