The department’s Environment, Heritage and Sustainability division is responsible for leading and managing the government’s objectives in relation to environmental management and protection, including flood hazard management.
Randstad are excited to be partnering with the Department for Environment and Water who are seeking a Flood Management Officer - GIS to join their Flood management team on a long term, fixed contract. This is your opportunity to take up a stand alone GIS position within this specialised team.
Flood Management Officer GIS:
Your new position will contribute to the development of flood predictive capabilities and supports a wide range of stakeholders. Supporting the development and delivery of community information, analysing technological applications and systems, developing data transfer and data sharing arrangements, and supporting emergency response and other flood management activities through the provision of enhanced mapping capabilities.
Your new role will involve:
- Ensuring that spatial information and data are collected, prepared, analysed and maintained to support the current flood management projects.
- Supporting flood risk assessments and compilation of flood intelligence
- Providing mapping support for flood and fire incidents in the state
- Developing, maintaining and implementing a flood information management plan
To be successful you will need:
- A tertiary qualification in GIS, spatial data science, natural resource/water resource management is highly desirable
- Current and fundamental understanding of and experience in:
- ESRI GIS software including ArcGIS Pro, Desktop and online GIS web environments;
- Textual and Spatial databases including Access, Excel and corporate databases;
- GPS and associated software, and Data standards
- Experience in developing spatial models and/or scripts to facilitate efficient processing of spatial data
- The ability to collaborate with various levels of internal and external stakeholders of the department.
- National Police Clearance required for the successful candidate.
