Randstad has partnered with a Queensland State Government client who has an exciting employment opportunity for a Project Manager to oversee various projects under the Infrastructure Asset Services & Major Capital Works division. This position will manage the delivery of key infrastructure projects across secure facilities in the state. This includes the construction of new buildings/facilities, security system upgrades, replacement of fire detection and mechanical systems etc.
Duties:
... - Perform the role of Project Manager and client representative for infrastructure related projects
- Understand and apply the principles for project delivery within relevant frameworks
- Assist in negotiating with key stakeholders within projects to ensure effective delivery of project outcomes
- Coordinate management of project procurement activities for building projects including contractual aspects and agreed parameters of time, cost and quality
- Liaising and negotiating with other stakeholders from both public and private sector organisations
- Ensure projects are delivered within requested time frames and within budget parameters
- Liaising with the appropriate client representatives on operational matters to ensure the implementation of projects in accordance with client requirements.
Skills & Experience:
- Project Management Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in all phases of project management, from initiation to completion, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, quality control, governance and stakeholder communication. Previous experience working within the public sector is highly desired
- Construction Knowledge: Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices. This includes understanding relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
- Leadership and Team Management: Proven ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary project teams, subcontractors, and vendors. Experience in creating a collaborative team environment and motivating team members is essential.
- Financial Acumen: Proficiency in budgeting, cost estimating, financial forecasting, and overall project financial management. Ability to manage project finances to ensure profitability and cost control.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with stakeholders, team members, clients, and regulatory authorities.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills to manage contracts, change orders, and disputes effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Adept at identifying and addressing project-related challenges, making informed decisions, and finding solutions to unexpected issues.
- Risk Management: Proven ability to assess project risks and implement strategies to mitigate potential problems. Experience in managing and resolving disputes.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in project management software, scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project), and construction-specific software for document management, cost tracking, and collaboration.
- Regulatory Compliance: Thorough understanding of construction regulations, permits, zoning, safety standards, and other legal requirements related to construction projects.
- Health and Safety: Commitment to promoting and maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Health and Safety: An appropriate qualification in engineering, civil construction, architecture or project management combined with relevant industry experience
It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives.
