This D&C commercial fit out company based in Sydney CBD are looking for a Junior Project Manager/Project Coordinator with a tertiary qualification in Construction Management (or similar), or in a current Cadet role with commercial business and in their 4th year of studies. The team specialise in finding creative fit out solutions and offering a high quality service, and can deliver commercial refurbishment jobs from the initial design concept through to handover. Initially, you will be based in their head office 5 days a week, however there will be 1-2 days a week 'working from home' available once you have settled in and need less support.

Reporting to the Project Director and Project Managers, you'll get full project-pipeline experience. Your role will be involved from liaising with their internal design team in the early pre-construction process, to being awarded the contract, finalising the scope of works, awarding contracts, cost management and through to completion. It's a great opportunity to learn, and gain much more of an understanding than a standard Contract Administrator role would give you exposure to, with more autonomy. If you would like to progress into a Project Manager role in the future as the team grows, this opportunity is a good fit for you - as once you are confident, they will offer you the chance to manage the smaller valued projects as a PM.
We are looking to recruit a commercially astute and passionate Junior Project Manager/Project Coordinator that is focused and determined in their career growth. You will work closely with your Project Manager on multiple fit-out projects simultaneously at various stages of the delivery process. All projects you will look after are in NSW, and project values can be from $200k-$3m in value, including office workplaces, education and hospitality fit outs and refurbishments.
The team in Sydney currently has 15+ staff and are a close-knit 'family-feel' team that collaborate together to achieve their goals, already having achieved a strong pipeline of current and upcoming work for 2023 that you can be a part of. The business does have other teams in Melbourne and Brisbane too, and they have existing client relationships with impressive global clients that you will know of.
Key Responsibilities:
- Using Procore
- Head Contract Management
- Liaising with the internal design team
- Preparing subcontract packages - scope of works, procurement, tender comparisons and scheduling
- Reviewing, negotiating, and finalising subcontracts
- Cost management / budget reports
- Maintain relevant systems for Safety, Environmental and Quality Management
- Complete financial and program updates reporting honestly and effectively, prior to meetings
- Managing small projects as PM (once you are confident enough to do so).
To be Successful:
- You will be keen to develop in the team and have experience on commercial projects compiling cost reports and overseeing cash flow, although training can be provided
- You have good communication skills and are happy to be client facing to build on stakeholder relationships, and liaise with subcontractors
- Tertiary qualification or in your 4th year of studies in Construction Management, Project Management, Design or other related construction qualification
- A thirst for a challenge, energy and vision to want to succeed and grow within the business for the long term
- If you have only worked for a subcontractor so far, unfortunately we cannot consider you for this opportunity as the company is looking for someone specifically with head contractor experience so you are familiar with processes and have experience with sourcing/negotiating with local subcontractors on projects.
