The position will provide health, safety and environmental expertise and leadership, guidance, mentoring and direction to line managers, supervisors and health and safety representatives across the organisation.
The role will also be responsible for ensuring governance processes are implemented to assist in ensuring the HSE legal and business requirements are being met whilst improving the operations safety performance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining HSE systems to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive HSE system and program to continually improve performance.
- Driving the development and implementation of HSE strategy to contribute to them meeting its business objectives.
- Develops and monitors the effective implementation of appropriate Safety and Environment System procedures and provides for their updating in line with changes in Legislation and Company Directives.
- Monitoring and reporting HSE performance to senior leadership team and global requirements.
- Undertake risk and opportunity assessments and maintain HSE risk management framework.
- Reviewing current practices and updating work instructions.
- Reviewing incident reports, participating in investigations, and developing lessons learnt briefs.
- Contributing to all stages of the project lifecycle in respect to the HSE planning, management and compliance.
- Maintaining up to date knowledge of internal and external standards, legislation and other HSE improvements.
- Coordinating and participating in internal and external HSE audits.
- Providing regular reports for the management team and global requirements.
- Design training material, conduct and coordination of training courses relative to HSE.
Key Competency Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or related field essential;
- Tertiary qualification in environmental or related field highly regarded;
- Knowledge and understanding of IS0 45001 Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) management system and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems;
- Working knowledge of relevant WHS (Work Health and Safety) and environmental Legislation and regulations;
- Experienced in implementation/delivery of compliant HSE Management systems
- Lead Auditor qualifications and Cert IV in Workplace Assessor & Trainer highly desirable;
- Experience and qualification in Internal Auditing highly desirable;
- Membership of the AIHS as a signatory to its code of ethics, will be highly regarded;
- Certification as an OHS practitioner/professional will be highly regarded.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 + years in a similar role is essential.
- Experience within a HSE role in the defence domain and/or within an engineering industry is desirable.
- Certification as an OHS practitioner/professional will be highly regarded.
To be considered for this position you must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a current Australian Defence Security Clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1).
