The Agency has an exciting opportunity for a professional to join the Facilities and Security Business Unit as Capital Works Project Manager in the Corporate Operations Division.
The Agency is seeking to engage an experienced project manager with significant technical knowledge in the management and upgrade of base building technical infrastructure, particularly fire life safety systems and Building Management Systems (BMS).
The position works under broad direction, reporting to the Head of Facilities and Security. The role will increase the compliance of fire and BMS systems in the Agency, managing large procurement's for services and materials, managing risk-based project planning and implementation.
Position duties include:
- The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of base building facilities management, project management and high value Commonwealth procurement practices. You will have highly developed communication skills and be proficient in engaging and influencing others. Working collaboratively, you will achieve results by building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- The successful candidate will be able to use judgement and initiative in risk based decision-making and have strong analytical capabilities to resolve complex problems surrounding technical facilities systems.
- Your objectivity in relation to project management will help drive positive outcomes in both long-term reliability, suitability and cost saving. A strategic thinker, you will focus on long term strategic outcomes regarding presentation, maintenance, reliability, and maximising lifecycle of their assets.
- The Capital Works Manager will be experienced in managing external consultants and trades persons, contract management and performance management as required. They will be a team player and focused on outcomes-based performance, and results driven by the 364 day operation of the Agency.
APS6 Capital Works Coordinator
The gency has an exciting opportunity for a professional to join the agency as the Capital Works Coordinator. The role will:
- Supervise Contractors on site, including management of inductions, licences and WHS compliance.
- Plan and manage the delivery of the Museum’s capital works program across the Agency owned and leased buildings, including the replacement of the as installed fire management systems, building management system and the lifecycle replacement of Agency engineering and building fabric assets.
- Provide operational assistance, guidance and advice to Executive, management, staff and external contractors on the range of functions associated with capital works on site.
- Actively participate in the development and documentation of capital projects as required.
- Provide technical advice on contracts related to building works located at the Agency sites, including progress reports and contract reviews.
- Manage external contractors in the preparation of construction programs, including time-plans and cost plans.
- Assist in the development of specifications, tender and contract documents.
- Ensure high priority is given to the delivery of a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for visitors, and that the safety of staff and contractors is at the forefront of planning and delivery.
Position Duties
The successful candidate will have sound communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the proven ability to effectively communicate with and influence a range of internal and external stakeholders. They will combine this with the ability to work productively with a range of stakeholders including contractors, agency staff, local government, and statutory authorities.
The incumbent will require a demonstrated understanding of construction and building engineering services and will also be able to demonstrate their experience in the management of contracts relating to construction issues associated with the day-to-day operation of a significant public building.
As a Capital Works Coordinator, you will be outcomes driven, accountable and future focused with a strong interest in working in a dynamic program management environment. You will work under broad direction and with a considerable degree of independence.
